Good evening my fellow TEA mates.

You are all welcome tonight’s seminar.
Its indeed a rare privilege for me to be anchoring the seminar tonight.

Many people often have a dream of starting a business but many factors are keeping them back from it. One of the limiting factors is what we are considering today. That is no shop.

There are so many ways of making money with or without a shop. Shop/office is good but you cannot be waiting all day just to raise money for a shop. You can sustain yourself by starting from somewhere.

The following are businesses you can do without needing a shop:

1. Food vendors

Majority of food vendors do not necessarily needs shop to sell their food. Some of them uses wheel barrows to sell e.g okra vendors while some of them stays under their umbrella with chair and a table e.g roasted yam sellers e.t.c.

2. Hair stylist

There are people who do not have shops before the corona virus scourge. They will stay in big market road like Idumota or Idumagbo market in Lagos, calling people to come make their hair. If you agree, they will quickly braid your hair in return for payment. Some people also drop complimentary cards and fliers on people’s car advertising themselves as professional hair stylists who offers home services to clients.

3. Home Lesson/Tutorials

Clients for Home lesson or tutorials are obtained mainly from calls. All you need to get customers is not a shop or office but a business card, posters or handbills and banners.

4. Pop Corn Vendors

This business is done with a table, chair and a popcorn machine. No shop is actually needed.

5. Hawkers

Yes, nobody wants to be a hawker. But, those involved in hawking are living on it. I strongly discourage child hawker though. They do not need a shop to do their business, all they need is their goods and their head.

6. Recharge Card Vendors

Vendors of recharge cards are distributors of recharge cards who collects in large quantities from communication plc that prints the cards. Some of them are signed contractors to the firm while some are not. The vendors distributes their cards to retailers in the streets without needing a shop.

7. POS

POS business can be done anywhere even in your house, all you will need is advertisement to inform people that you are into such business. You can also do this business in any market with your chair, small table and a banner. It pays especially in the market.

8. Supply Business

This business is very interesting as you can be a bread supplier to a bakery. You can also supply your personal products if you have one. Products like meat pie, fish pie/roll, egg roll, liquid soap, soya beans e.t.c. can be supplied from your home to customers. You do not need a shop for something like this.

9. Photographers

Majority of them only has a camera but moves from one location to the other attending programs including wedding, where they are not even invited to snap. People who patronize them collects their pictures before the end of the program. Some of them uses their camera, digital printer and a chair to do two minutes passport. You will get this people in some office areas where people who needs passports patronizes them.

10. Sales of used clothes

Sales of used clothes may not require any shop. In fact, most boutiques now know that the people who operate local mobile boutiques make more sales than the shop owners. Even those that sell from shops in the big markets have strategically put their boys and girls to join the myriads of hawkers in the big markets.

11. Book Business

Are you saying that book business can be done without a shop? Yes. Now, let me explain. Whenever you get information about any program and the theme of the program. You can buy books that are related to the title of such program. You can’t imagine how many patronage you will get from this means. Do you know that during big church crusades, you can buy Bibles, hymns, Christian novels, olive oil e.t.c and take to such programs for sale. There are also people who sells past course materials in some tertiary institutions. People also buys different books for different conferences being held in some places and they go to such places to sell during the program. Some of them are allowed into the premises of the program or sells outside the venue.

12. Phone Technicians

These are people who repairs different types of phones for their customers. Most of them stays in shopping complex with their chair in a small corner and small adverts indicating they repair phones. Some of them stays under stair case of some plazas to do their phone repair business.

If your limitations to starting a business has been scarcity of fund to rent a shop, now that you know that you do not need a shop or office to start, I am sure, you will do the needful.
