WHAT IS PODCASTING EXACTLY
This might be the very question running through our minds. So before we begin, what exactly is podcast?
In simple terms, we can say that podcast is an audio blogging. It works like blogging except that it is not written but recorded and aired.
HOW DOES PODCASTING WORKS
It works basically in 3-stages and they are discussed as explicitly as possible.
1 Record episodes on your phone/PC using equipments.
2 Upload the recorded audio to podcasting websites.
3 Submit it to directories where audience are most very likely to find it
So let take them one after the other and treat them inclusively…
Before we do that , WHY SHOULD WE/YOU START a PODCAST
The vblog( YouTube) and blogging is super saturated, 20million and 600million respectively…
But the podcast is pretty young and growing at around 800,000/and counting. This simply means that there is still incredible space and opportunity to tap into.
CAN YOU PRODUCE a PODCAST WITH YOUR PHONE
A Big YES . Download a good app on play store with nice users ratings, and test if it meets your specifications.
STEPS ON HOW TO START A PODCAST
There are about eight of them, let’s quickly go into it without wasting much of our time…
STEP 1 PLANING
Here is the most crucial part of all the steps. If you fail to plan, then you are already planing to fail. During planing, ask your self this two basic questions.
Question 1. WHAT IS MY PODCAST ABOUT
This is where you identify your “why”.
Are you a marketer and wants to explore new markets and areas?
Are you skilled in a particular field and want a platform to teach your audience what you know, thereby impacting and in the process make profit(money).
Question 2. WHO IS YOUR PODCAST FOR
This is where you ask the ” who ” question.
You must know who your audience is. Give them a reason to listen to you. Take your time to plan your shows, so that at the end, it will be an experience they will want to come back for.
Check other podcasts, especially the top 100 and see what they are doing and make yours better.
STEP 2. NAME YOUR PODCAST
Pick a name that expresses what your show is about. Can you use your name? Sure you can if you are a celebrity or have created a brand around it, else its a big NO
Choose a name that is catchy, sleek and appeals to people
STEP 3. CHOSE A FORMAT
There are a various formats to podcasting. Here are a few.
a. SOLO (MONOLOGUE)
This simply means doing it all by yourself. It also means that nobody is sharing episodes with you, so therefore everything is just you talking to yourself and believing that you are actually talking to your audience.
b. INTERVIEWS
It involves inviting experts, mentors, leaders, heroes, celebrity and renowned persons to your show to share their experiences and knowledge with your audience.
c. Co-HOST
Here you and others are co-owners of such podcast, there for , you all share episodes, profits and other stuff accordingly.
d. STORY TELLING
This is great with people that love and can tell story with such beautiful imaginations.
e. NEWS RECAP
This is a show that summarizes news within a specific industry.
STEP 4 RECORD YOUR PODCAST
Before we go into recording our podcast, here are the things to do before that
i. write your outline
ii chose a good place to record.

1. ANCHOR. FM
Its a totally free app especially great for beginners. From recording to hosting to monetization, all is done free of charge. You can go ahead and record your PODCAST in minutes.
2. AUDACITY
It also like like Anchor. FM
3. ADOBE AUDITION
Its available through a monthly $20 subscription.
4. GARAGE BAND
Is also available through a monthly $20 subscription.
5. ALITU
it easier than Audacity’s and garage.
6 HIDENBURG JOURNALIST
Its the cheapest and has a $95 one time subscription.
STEP 5. EDIT YOUR PODCAST
This is the section where you add, delete, retune, all necessities and irrelevants. Add intro’s, check volume and tempo’s and all others.
STEP 6. CHOSE A HOSTING SITE
If you used Anchor, then you have no trouble, but if you use other channel’s then, you have to chose a hosting site for your PODCAST. This host sites include
1. Captivate
2 Castes
3 Transistors
4 Simplecast
5 Blubrry
STEP 7. PUBLISH YOUR FIRST EPISODE
You can record several episodes schedule them to go live at a set time and date.
STEP 8. PROMOTE YOUR PODCAST
There are many ways to do this, they are..
1. Tell family and friends
2. Share on Social Media and Platforms
3. Join Communities/Forums of Podcasters online
4. Submit to Relevant Directories such as👇🏾
a. SoundCloud
b. Spotify
c. Apple podcast
d. Stitcher
e. Google play store
f. etc
HOW TO MAKE MONEY ON PODCAST
Once you have gained enough audience and authority in your niche, ask people to subscrib weekly, monthly and annually.
Another way is to promote your service and products as well as others people services and products..
