🎤SPEAKER/FACILITATOR/DISCUSSANT
đź—Ł MRS SALAAMOT OLOWOPOROKU NEE OBILEYE
You are all welcome for tonight. As instructed by our coordinator,am highly humble to take toning session
My name is Mrs Olowoporoku Salaamot (Obileye) an industrial chemistry graduate and a fashion designer by profession.
To start with, let me share a little story with you all
Going down memory lane when I was in SS2 ,my ambition plus that of a host of my friends was to go to University of Ibadan and study Medicine and surgery.
After our first external exam attempt,we begin to have a slight change of mind.Luckily majority of us got first hand admission like immediately after o’ level.
Somebody like me was always beaming with joy each time I tell people I am studying industrial chemistry as they will respond like “oh what a marketable course”…. Hian
No one ever say the truth of not in Nigeria
If not for those live saving OOU strikes, heaven knows I will still be going from one company to another in search of green pasture. All this happens because we all thinks the only strings to our future happiness in working in top places. I personally have eyes for NAFDAC(sure you can relate). But thanks to God and wonderful people around me who encourage me in those days to go learn a craft.
Getting started was not easy as my immediate family are fans of white collar job. I ignore all odds and stay focused with the little have got and bought my very first sowing machine (you don’t believe I use to safe #200 weekly)
I keep sowing for myself almost on daily basis and within few months, people start recognizing it. Gradually I was making head and like play like play I begin to get apprentice. Even though I still work in the house,to the Glory of God ,I have up to 10 apprentice’s and plenty customers.
I know am not where I pray to be but I bless God for His enormous blessings
In all these are my deductions;
1)Every entrepreneur needs a me time, dedication and constant practice to maintain focus on the business and stay motivated to become a better person and business leader
2)Your outlined mission and vision should serve as a reminder about your purpose of becoming an entrepreneur
3)Developing a personal and professional plan for your short term and long term goals to have a clear understanding of what you want to become and how to go about it…..Seek help.when needed
4)Set personal time to take a walk, meditate, exercise, eat and drink properly
5)Develop a habit of of setting reminders throughout the day for the important tasks and daily goals……..an alarm that says”get off Facebook and back to wok” would be perfect
6)Recognize and reward small victories along the way to long term ,broader goals
7)Sometimes, the best motivation comes from peer pressure, engage your friends and colleagues to help motivate you both towards individual and shared goals……no one is an Island
8)Stay positive, there is no one size fits all answer to what makes people happy, choose happy! celebrate your failure and be your number one fan……my dear its just not easy
9)Never underestimate the value of a good night sleep for personal motivation (sometimes way out comes from your dreams). No unfinished task or missed goal is worth the misery that comes with loosing sleep over it
Lastly, never underestimate the power of a praying entrepreneur, take all of you to God,relax and enjoy His bounties
At this junction, I will like to pause here for another time when we will all meet at the tops, celebrating our different victories.
I hope my little time helps to motivate that person who still see getting there as big deal !!!!come on you are not where you use to be
Thank you everyone for your precious time, being a part of you is outrightly a blessing
